Author Topic: Can't get any downloads/uploads (Read 2643 times)

I have WinMx3.54 beta4. I can't get any downloads or uploads. I have a connection to the network (green light) and there are dnl and upl indicated but they're at 0 B/s. They usually "timeout waiting for connection reply".
I have ZoneAlarm firewall. I allow WinMx to connect through this but still nothing.
I have a router and modem for cable connection. I have spent quite a lot of time going through the tutorials to change and set various IP addresses, etc. to ensure I can dnl and upl but still no success. I used to be able to get some dnl but not upl and then it was intermittent. That was before changing and setting addresses to circumvent the router issues.
I don't know if Windows Firewall is causing problems. I can't access the settings "due to a problem" that won't allow me to check or change the settings. I don't seem to have any problems gaining access to the Internet or email.
Any ideas?

Check if the windows firewall is off.
Go to www.portforward.comamd see your router model there. Check if your modem is there as well as many modems also have ibuilt routers.

Port defaults are
TCP 6699
and
UDP 6257

Your problem seems to me like ports. Do search results come up? and does the channel list load?

Remember you dont need a network connection to get into the chat rooms.. just do the above no matter what.. and be patient with the admins.. they dont always sit there watching the screen.. if you dont get an answer right away just hang out..

I do get search results that come up. I'm not sure what you mean by channels.
I did try "re-routing" ports on my router. Is it okay if I use higher TCP and UDP numbers?
I can't find my modem on the Portforward site.
I'm still only getting "waiting for incoming connection" and "timed out..." when people are
trying to upload. There are no downloads going through either.

Please forgive my ignorance, I'm new at this. I can't find the Help rooms/Chat button.
I did download the patch, at least, I'm pretty sure I did. I was at that site on Thursday and
downloaded from it.

Traumeel the chat fuctions are located on the WinMX itself.. and you will find our chat room along with many many others on the list.

Open WinMX, Click on the 'Chat' button. Copy and paste the name I gave you above into the 'Filter Bar'. Then click the Join Button on the far right.

And I just have to say .. we like to persecute anyone who likes porn in that room, it is a room for stereotypical christian mothers only and nobody else is allowed in there. anyone else will of course be banned instantly
