Access Winmx On College internet?

Hello.. i was just wondering if its possible to be able to access winmx from college :shock:   

im currently in college and they have very strict internet use policy's and firewalls ect.. ive tryed VNC java viewer but it seems they block that too

Is it possible to maybe even connect to a chatroom.. i host a room and would like to be able to somehow access it in college

College's and schools as well as library's often block 2p2 sites as well as chat rooms, some dont even allow you to load msn messenger, i do know of a 15yr old lad that hacked the school pc and was in my room on WinMX, his brother was one of my admin's so he even used his brother's login password to admin as he had hacked his dad's pc and had all the passwords, he bragged about it untill i had to tell his brother to change password, that got the young lad a ban off home & school pc's.

i understand what your saying.. i was just thinking.. proxies work(like www.hidemyass.com, although, they are blocked.. we kkeep having to find new ones to play on games with.. lol).. so maybe theres a way to use some kind of proxy.. like the http tunnel?

isnt that just for viewing http.. like websites?   i was thinking more along the lines of the http tunnel.. but for such programs as p2p

Using http tunnels for p2p isn't very successful, servers become RAPIDLY overloaded.. likewise SOCKS 4/5 proxies (which winmx can use natively) also overload rapidly, can't handle the demands placed on the servers transferring data for multiple users, effectively they're useless for winmx except to change/hide IP in chatrooms.. & I've yet so see anyone do even THAT for a LEGITIMATE reason.. only to defeat bans etc.

You could set up a proxy on your home computer though and connect to that, that way it wont be over run wid only you knowing your connection has a proxy set up. isnt very hard to do and your ip shuldnt be blocked off by them, id say try mad ports though as im sure they aint dumb enough to allow the standard ports, but then the ones ive met are all thick and what they doing teaching i duno. try it mate, if not ill set a proxy up for ya

For sharing connection on a LAN i used to use analogx proxy, which works as a socks4 proxy & handles winmx traffic fine.. although to use it from outside your LAN it has to be run inan "open" state, meaning anyone who detects it can also use it.. not so hot..

final note, after running & having that program on my hard drive for years.. Norton suddenly recently decided to flag it as a virus.. falsely i'm sure, nut nevertheless damed annoying...

Well, i was tierd.. i cant reli remember what i did... guess i couldnt be botherd openeing the ports LOL!

if you like you could host me a proxy and i'll give it a go

(ovbiusly not for eva.. if it works i'll set my connection up as a proxy for all my freinds    )
