Where Is He?....
« on: January 24, 2007, 12:03:09 pm »
My brother has recently installed the great WinMx & downloaded a couple of files but he can't see my files (or user name) when he searches & I can't see his.  His connection is 56k, mine is DSL.  People have already uploaded from him.
     Where could he be?????!!!!  :?

Winmx does not have a central index so that you can find him instantly lol
Go together in a room or connect to the same opennap server so that you can see each other. With opennap you can also permenantly add each other to your hotlists, something that you cannot do with winmx

Cheers :P
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

Hey Melody.. the answer is no.. its difficult at best..

Have a look through this page for a basics of network structure.. then when you do keep in mind that a search is usually only going to make about 8 hops.. meaning get to about 8 other primaries to look for results.  There are hundreds of thousands of primary users and so this is not likely to help you find him..

Using a chat room On WinMX is the best way for him to find you and your files.. not to mention its a great way to enjoy MX even more.. there are lots of great ppl and rooms on the Network that would love to have you and your brother Im sure..

I dont want to brag or nothing but one great room is the WinMxWorld.com Help room.. we dont kick ya out if you dont need help.. or another i like alot is The Music Spectrum  great folks but they do ask you have at least 50 files shared and no porn.

You should actually be able to find him. But it would take quite a few searches and mabye a couple of refreshes as well. It's a time consuming process. Sometimes he might be the first hit or other times, you'd evolve wings faster. So depends. I know this as I frequently used to search for users who had speeches I was after. It was not a plesant experience lol.

As I said, use opennap, it is great for people who want to constantly stay in touch via winmx.

Cheers :P
