mp3pro format

Does anyone know what a mp3pro sound file is?    What's the difference between mp3 and mp3pro?

I have to say I myself hadnt heard of this either so with just a few google clicks I came up with this site.. I hope it helps and looking into some of the other links found in a simple search maybe helpful too..

I cant vouge for this or say whether its better or worse to use.. maybe you can let us know what your experiences are with this format?

Here's what I know about mp3pro files. They are about half the size of a regular mp3.
To my ears the sound quality is the same as any mp3. I discovered this pro format
when i downloaded Music Match 9.0 that came with a file conversion feature.
I converted a few files and the pro format seems to work exatally like my regular mp3s.
Does anyone else know anything more.
