This has really been driving me nuts for the longest time.What does a person have to do on this network now to feel like a contributor?Do I have to feel forced to have the latest movie or porn? I go on Ares and my queue is allways at least 30 & emule usually hits 400, but I go on this one and get maybe a whole upload every hour. Wippy Doo!! I usually get discouraged and end up going on another network where I feel like I'm worth something. My problem is I prefer this one over all of them. I keep feeling I'm going to get hammered for not having an active upload. Any suggestions?

Does this happen always or just this once?
Even with my speech colelction, I get ~10-15 uloads an hour....
But if I get a bad primary then mabye a few an hour
Try refreshing and see if that helps.
Also what are the file types you are sharing?
.wmv or .wma or .mov aren't shared in winmx by default

I share the default of mpg & avi. I have approx 15 concerts, tons of episodes from a tv series that ran for years and approx 800 music videos from rock artists of the 70's to 90's. Most of it very common. I realize that when winmx went down a year ago, it lost alot of users. Two years ago when I was on winmx, I had half of what I have now & allways had about 20 in queue. I' guess it's kind of frustrating that winmx is not like it use to be (at least to me)

Lubbie you haven't really answered Sam's question.. and I for one would like to make sure this is not a issue with configurations that is happening.. so.. maybe you could tell us

Does this happen to all uploads or just most?
When you do get uploads and ques do they start ok? then die off?
Have you gone into a chat room and made sure the files are showing ok?
Are your downloads working fine?
Are you running any third party software like MxMonitor or Leechammer?

I hope by writing this that I am aswering all questions asked. I can only make a secondary connection because of my router. Even with only having a secondary connection, I only see approx 1 out of 5 disconnect from me when they try to dowlooad from me.As for my downloads, in warys, most of them work fine, even though I've seen them time out etc.... As for anti leech software, darnn right I use LeecHammer, why should I give onto someone who can't give onto another???? (I Love the sound it makes)

Lubbie,

I think for what your telling me that you're running at above optimal. You are probably set to what we call 'Passive Secondary Mode'. Meaning that since you have not set ports due to the router your WinMX is set to Unable on Incoming TCP and In/Out UDP.

Any one else set this same way in WinMX will not be able to access your files and visa versa. Usually running this way yeilds you about a 85% success rate for transfers and 1/5 is much better then that even.

The only other option is if your able to set ports in the router with some help then we can get that Passive mode fixed and this might allow for more stable uploads from you.

Do you have a link that you could provide me as to how to port forward my router? I think that what you have been saying about opening 'ports' etc.. makes sense. The reason why I say this, is that for example over the last 3 days that I have been on here, Day 1, within a half hour I had 10 in queue, Day 2, within the same amount of time I had about 6 in queue, then Day 3 I was on for about 2 hours before I had an upload. I guess people can't find me sometimes, or it can't find me as a source for files.

This is good for folks that have not ever done this and it directs you to the portforward site for finding your model of router after you have what you generallly need written down to do it.

Of course as with anything.. if you get stuck of have questions feel free to post back here with those..
