so what does happen?

and, did you download winmx from www.winmxgroup.com? as there is another version floating around that is filled with fake results, released by the music and film industries in order to drive people away from p2p, and if you have that fake version then it would be the most likely reason for nothing working

If you ahve a router:

You need to forward ports in your router that you got from your ISP
Go to www.portforward.com and see your router model there in the router's section.
A tutorial will be given there on how to forward ports for winmx there
Port defaults are:
TCP 6699
UDP 6257
You can forward ports for any other number you might like
After you have done so, go to winmx>settings>Incoming TCP and set the option to listen to port xxxx (the port number you forwarded for TCP)

Same for winmx>settings>UDP in out. Again set the option to listen to xxxx (the UDP port number you forwarded)
You should then be able to connect to primary. Check if your download and uploads run ok and if you get search results and chatroom results.

Cheers :P
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

Bethany also make sure your Auto Enter Que settings are not set to default of 10.  You can do this by

Open WinMX Settings > Search
Then on the right side.. look for 'Default Download Parameters'
Under this title you should see 'aeq - remember previous' or might say 'Auto Enter Que - 10'
Click this and choose 100.

Then retry the searches or files.. this should help you get in line for more files..

Ususally download not working are because of fake files..

kritkrit77902
Be sure your using this patch
Install for 3.31,3.53, and 3.54
If your WinMX Says 'Patch Operational' In the update bar directly under your Version info then its already correct patch, if not please reinstall with this file.
Next make sure your NOT using Peerguardian or PGLite or Windows Defender.

Post back after you have looked at this..

I am new also and downloaded Winmx 3.54 and had problems ,then uninstalled it and installed 3.53 with the 2.2 patch, but I still am not able to download nothing. I open it up and search ,then get a list and try to download, but the downloads stop and just turn red. I then notice on the search part that it is yellowed out meaning does not match file.  I have been reading some posts on here and saw 1 that said something about IE 7 and wonder if that has anything to do with me not being able to download nothing?
I have a Windows Vista home basic and am not really that familiar with it yet and only have
dial up access for a connection.  I also was reading something about forwarding ports and went so farr with it and then it just confused me and I do not know much about that. Do I have to have a fast connection?  Do I have to forward ports? I use to use winMx several years ago before it quit and now I am just confused about all the port forwarding stuff and never did this before . I also have firewalls for windows and shut it off . Also have defender and shut that off also, but still no luck and should I keep IE 7?  Could someone help??  I have set up to share a few music files I do have also, but they are not much.
