Replying to Messages
« on: May 05, 2007, 12:18:42 am »
When I try to reply to  a message, I get this error:

"Remote System Did Not Acknowledge The Message" and the message doesn't go through.

Any ideas why this is happening?

THanks.

Personally my opinion is it's because the winmx pm system sucks, basically the communication between two systems wasn't perfect, sometimes ti says not sent, sometimes not, if not, it *may* or *may not* have got through..

sometimes if you're connected secondary, going to the networks page & hitting refresh cures it (usually).

With such error messages, it's hard to say.
Sometimes it does go through and other times it does not.
Best it to send it again and atmost thrice.
Sometimes it goes on the second attempt and other times it does not. But on opennap, you'll never get suh a problem... The pm's are ultra fast (as they are centralised,) and so, very reliable

Cheers :P

when winmx sends a message the other end sends back a response to confirm it got it, or in some cases sends back an error (user ignoring you, or a primary reporting that the secondary user you're sending the PM to is offline)

when that message comes up it means it didn't get a response, it could mean the message got there fine just the response failed, but more often it means that the primary user went offline (so isn't online to either take the message or give an error back)

normally if you wait for the other person to send you another message the new message will have different numbers on the end of the username, and you can then reply to that... that is of course if they send another message
