Browsing files shared by a known user without searching first

I want to tell my friends my WinMX username so that they can browse my shared files whenever I'm online, but the only way I know how they can do this is for them to search for a file that they know I'm sharing, hope it appears on the results list, then right-click on my username and select "Browse". Does anyone know of a better way to search for a user to see if he/she is online, then browse their shared files? I searched the forums and found a subject/reply that looked relevant, but it linked me to  *broken link removed by nylly*, which my browser can't find.

Hi Narvik,

The most reliable way to find others using WinMX is to have a room that you all can meet in to get current browses on.  Using the chats is a great way to meet other ppl also and get other files.  So I would suggest either one of you host a room or that yall find a room you can hang out in to find each other.  If your not sharing any illegal porn your welcome to use our WinMXWorld.com Cafe for such a purpose.

Im not sure what 'search' you did to get that link above but if you actually searched this site and got that link.. maybe you could give me the search details you used so that link can be removed.

You can connect to some opennap servers and add each other to the hotlist permenantly...
Fast and reliable and all pms are instant.
Decide on a common server. you also have no limits on the number of files shared. So That's another big plus

Thanks Narvik - the broken link has now been removed from both the original post and yours as well - hope you don't mind but we don't want others to try and find that if it's not in existance anymore
