It seems that those companies that claim their system for filtering uploads for the larger publice video sites that have proved popular are not doing so well when it comes to actually making the filters work
http://newteevee.com/2007/06/08/does-digital-fingerprinting-work-an-investigative-report/Audio and visual fingerprinting of copyrighted video is seen as the best way to combat infringement, but in NewTeeVee’s testing this week across multiple sites, it did not work. We were surprised to be able to upload multiple times the exact same copyrighted file, even after we explicitly told the hosting site and the fingerprinting provider about it and they took it down.
The company concerned with providing the filtering system Audible Magic can complain as much as they wish about the sites not using their system correctly , the bottom line is its not just one site but many and that seems to place the onus on Audible Magic to actually make the product
appear to work.
I suppose this is a big disappointment to many media companies but I,m sure many folks will enjoy the illicit content and some anti censorship groups can take heart in this flawed system that seems useless.
