You may (or may not?) have noticed the site was offline all of yesterday + this morning
This downtime was caused by a tiny mistake whilst doing some server updates, a small mistake meant the server needed someone to type in a single 1 line command during the boot process to make the server boot - and due to there being no access to the console for customers this had to be done by someone at the datacenter.
Thankfuly keyweb have great technical support and it only took them a mere 11 hours to tell me that they don't give a damn and the server being offline was "no emergency" (in response to my asking them why the hell it was taking them so long to type 1 command) - of course i don't consider paying the next bill they send to be very important either
25 hours 45 minutes after i first submitted the support request the third technician to come on duty finally got around to doing it, although by that time I was in bed having given up waiting for them to get off of their arses so it took a little longer before the site was shifted back to the server from the maintenance page I had put up in the meantime
We will be switching providers as a result of this bullshit they claim to call support, however for now the site is back up and running anyway - simply telling them where to stick their 25 hour response times and getting another server from elsewhere would have meant at least several days of downtime (perhaps a week or more) waiting for a new provider to get a server online - I very nearly did that, however at the last second before clicking send I deleted my message figuring they might just get it back online before christmas if I resisted the urge to tell them what I think of them
Needless to say I won't be recommending them to anyone who considers a server being offline to be important - if it took them nearly 26 hours to type 1 damn command then i'd hate to think how long it would take them to fix a real problem (i doubt they even could, considering my initial support ticket told them the problem and how to fix it, and the first response i got was "the filesystem has crashed and needs a reinstall"...)
