Situation Update :
« on: June 30, 2007, 01:09:50 pm »
Folks thank you all for your interest, persistence and patience  8)

I was expecting to launch the updated patch this morning but due to a minor misunderstanding causing a technical setback, we are stuck for some hours while the crew get some well earned rest. I hope you can all hold firm on the emergency fix until the old favourite is restored to its pride of place in your mx folder, please rest assured a working solution is very near and unfortunately it takes a little time to arrange.

I would like to thank many of you for the kind offers of help and to those already helping a big thank you from all the users, we are indebted to you all  8)

I shall make a roll of honour when the emergency is over to celebrate the wide range of talent that has answered the call  :)

PS: Folks please accept my apologies for not being able to answer any questions at this momnet, but I will leave this thread open for your words on this subject and will try to ensure any news reaches you as fast as possible , thank you all.

Fresh news folks the final hurdles have been overcome and the release team are prepping to make the release withing the next few hours, as you would expect we are giving a long time margin to finalise testing and arrange support facilities where possible, as well as the normal methods of spreading the good news.

My next post will be the announcement , thank you all for your patience .

can someone please help a complete idiot?   when I first found that winmx was down I deleted it from my computer. Is it still possible for me to get WinMx up and running again?  Or am I f****d???   I tried downloading from Vladd site but it just says connecting. And when I shut WinMx down it is not even recognized as a program file. Which seems to mean that I will have to keep reinstalling the program ever time I want to use WinMx.

You need to go in and delete the WinMX file you got earlier.. and also have a look in C:\Program Files\ for a folder named WinMX. Delete this one also.

Now you can download a fresh copy of WinMX from here:
httpss://archive.winmxworld.com/WinMX/

Now visit this link to get the temporary fix until we can get perminate solutions delivered.

Victim and others wonderers..lol

I can assure you that folks are working non stop to get a working solution to you the users, however I think you will agree that WinMX Group users are used to a level of performance and stability that are far beyond considered high.  So, that in mind I think you can understand that the solution needs to be one that will be as close to matching that quality as 'kmgodlike' humanly possible.. have patience and we will be letting you know as soon as we can..

did you extract the hosts file from the zip file to windows/system32/drivers/etc folder and let it over write the existing hosts file........
if so restarting winmx should work  note those instructions are for xp win2k
let us know how you got on and if thats worked...............
