Uploading and Queue Problems
« on: August 25, 2007, 04:06:26 pm »
I am a long time WinMX user so I do have experience.  I have the pc on 24/7, using the latest version & patches on WinXP, running a Secondary Connection, DSL connection, Westell DSL Modem.  A week ago I came back from a trip to find my pc had received a Windows update that required a reboot.  When I restarted WinMX it took a very long time to connect.  Since that time it has been rare for anyone to connect for u/l - they get in my queue and almost immediately go to "Connection timed out", "Disconnected", "Connection aborted".  When a connection is made and the u/l starts, the speed is actually faster than it has been.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled WinMX, did a system restore, installed WinMX on another XP pc, built a Win 2000 Pro pc and installed WinMX - all with the same result.  I have also tried with a dial up connection which seems to work better, but the speed averages less than 0.75 K/s.  Anyone seen or heard of this or a similar problem?

who is your provider ? and u can also change the settings in winmx in the settings tab goto FILE TRANSFER tab and then PENDING DOWNLOADS...set the time there to a higher amount...this could improve the chance of a connection for people to try downloading from u...set it at atleast 120

maybe u can also drop by the helproom that way we can help u upclose and personal ;)

My provider is Zoomtown with Cincinnati Bell.  I did double check the settings and noticed that I had overlooked changing those settings - I had only unchecked all of the others.  Changed those as suggested but once they hit the "Connecting" they are only staying for about 25 or 30 seconds before going to timed out or disconnected.

HI Mkm31,

Once the files are shared they find you in searches.  If you sharing files fine and the uploads are timing out that is usually because a router or DSL Modem with router needs ports configured to work.

This guide will help you get started doing that...
