Start Up Problems
« on: August 02, 2007, 01:14:30 am »
Greetings, I have a problem, I installed the new 3.54 beta4 to get back on. Now every time I start WinMx my download window is empty. Everything that used to stay in the window is gone and I have to reset the AFS & AEQ all over again each time. And some of my settings have been reset i.e. The incomming message alert is back to "Sysyem Beep"again. Does any have any suggestions?? Sure would appreciate it!! Thanks, Kricket

Hi Kricket..if you do a search for something and while your on the
search page change the Auto Find Sources - (to your previous time)
and also change Auto Enter Queue - (to your previous time)
most people set these at Auto Find Sources - 10m and Auto Enter Queue - 100
once you've done this you shouldnt have to change it anymore on your
transfers window.

For the incoming messages and the system beep you'll need to go into
Settings and find "Incoming Msgs & Privacy" and Click on Quiet if you
want the beep disabled.

As for everything in your download window being gone...if you mean your
Incomplete Files... as long as your incoming files is the same directory
as you had it before you should be able to load them back up by clicking
"Load Incompletes"

As for any other settings your not happy with you'll have to change them
in Settings

If it keeps reverting try deleting settings.dat & restarting winmx, i've had occasions where it corrupted in such a way changes wouldn't save

tiny firewall has a fileguard program that will do that also. If you have any file guard type programs you may try and tell it to ignore winmx

and last but not least...

Kricket,

If you happen to be on Vista, we've seen a few users with this problem.  Have a look at this thread and set the permissions for your incoming folder or WinMX in general.  (only applies to Vista Users)
