Unable to stay connected

All evening I've been having trouble trying to keep winmx online longer than 30 seconds. I am using the latest patch, my firewall is configured correctly and my port settings have been checked.

I also keep getting connection closed msgs on the open nap protocols.

OS: Windows Vista Home Basic (Using an Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop)
RAM: 512 MB
Using ethernet cat 5 hardwire connected to a linksys router
(I have dsl through verizon)

addendum to my own post...updated patch and the main connection seems to be working :)
