MPAA Announce They Are The Only "Legitimate" Theives

It seems "legitimacy" is something the MPAA are trying to monopolise also.

Quote
Dean Garfield, director of MPAA’s anti-piracy department, was interviewed recently. When he was asked whether the Pirate Party’s attempts to battle organizations like the MPAA through democratic means is legitimate, he responded: “There’s nothing about what the Pirate Bay does or what the Pirate Party does that is legitimate. There’s nothing philosophically principled about it. They steal copyright content and accept advertising dollars based on taking other people’s work. There’s nothing noble about it.”

Calling a political party illegitimate and their members thieves is a pretty bold statement for an organization who’s feeding politicians thousands of dollars to support their cause. I doubt that Garfield even read their election manifesto, if he did, he would know that the party has nothing to do with stealing copyright.

“This can only be seen as MPAA calling democracy illegitimate. We are a registered political party finishing in the top ten in a parliamentary democracy,” says Rick Falkvinge, leader of the Swedish Pirate Party in a response to TorrentFreak. “That these people claim it would somehow be illegitimate to change laws through a parliamentary process shows just how corrupt to the core they are

As I posted recently in just under 6 months the RIAA/MPAA Cartel and its members had donated 27.5 million dollars to get favourable anti-consumer legislation in place and have a long history of subverting democracy in this way, for these Mafia style organisations to call political parties they cannot purchase theives is a badge of hounour for the pirate parties and their democratic trustworthyness.

Politicians who take cash from vested interests are corrupt in my view, they get paid our hard earned cash for doing the job they applied for along with cash to fund all manner of things at our expense, if you or I ran for office and decided to work on behalf of the people who voted for us for the honest reason we actually believed in the policies we espoused, why would we wish pay-offs from a creativity stifling global monopoly ?

Cash buys influence and when the MPAA stop buying influence they may regain some credibility, twenty seven million is a lot of corruption.

Hear, Hear!

If I employ someone to work for me and pay him for it, I don't accept that he would do things for someone else, on my time and at my expense and against my interests. Likewise, any citizen-elected Official is there to work for the greater community, not a sectional interest.

The thing is that while I could sack an employee immediately for violating his position of trust, we can't get rid of elected Officials until election time. And this is say nothing of non-elected Officials that governments are filled with; people who are there because another Official appointed them, and they have no public accountability at all. Yuk!
