CAN'T CONNECT FOR SOME REASON

I have been using WinMX for agessssssssssssssssssssss and have had no problems. I now use Vista and have been using WinMX on here too with no problems at all.
Yesterday i went to load it and it sits there saying CONNECTING.......................
And then stays on that . I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, differnt versions and still the same thing
Here is my info:
Operating system                                 Windows Vista
- Internet connection type                    Broadband (unsure of speed)
- WinMX Version                                   3.54 Beta 4
- Secondary or primary user
- What make of firewall you have            Windows Defender???
- Router brand and model                      Belkin G Router F5D7230-4
- Any WinMX add-ons installed                 nil

ANY help would be apprciated as i miss my WinMX

Before re-opening WinMX remove all entries for WinMX from windows firewall exceptions,  and then re-allow it when it prompts you.

i closed WinMX down, reinstalled and still CONNECTING
I did not have firewall settings
I did not change any settings or anything before this happened so not sure what is happening. I loaded WInMX on to this computer when i first got it and it worked fine with Vista. It has only been the last few weeks that i can not load it up

Hi Aussie this is not the only firewall infact its not a firewall per say that Im aware

What make of firewall you have            Windows Defender???

You do need to allow WinMX in this also however you will have a firewall located in the security center on the control panel.  This is the one MicroMecca is referring to so can you go to it.. remove WinMX from it and then restart and let us know what happens..


Often with say updates or whatever the operating system firewall can re enable istelf.. up set settings or allowed program you had .. and also so can reinstalling WinMX because it sees this as a hijacking (somethings changed) XP/Vista firewall is the worse about just blocking it without telling you it has.. remove and let it be readded is the cure usually...

Hi aussie can you tell me which ISP your with? A few have been blocking ports lately and may be causing problems...

Not sure what i have done now but for a while there last night MSN wouldn't load up either. I uninstalled MSN, reinstalled it and rebooted the PC, and now WinMX works too

Ahh AAPT - they aren't blocking ports but a friend of mine has them for internet... lets just say its unpleasant
