Throttling solution?
« on: October 24, 2007, 02:02:22 am »
Okay so with the help of the nice admins here at WinMX World I was able to find out that Comcast is throttling my upload bandwidth. I can't tell for sure about the download bandwidth because it's speed kinda depends on who I'm downloading from... but it seems decent for the time being.
ANYWAY... I noticed that when an upload starts, it zooms right along for about 10 seconds... at like 120+ kbps, or something. After that 10 second period, it goes down, down, down into a ring of fire. No really, it ends up creeping along at like 15-20 kbps... when it's done uploading, the next one starts, but it creeps along from the beginning.

So here's my idea: Is there a way to have WinMX actually PAUSE between starting uploads? I mean if I could delay the start of the next guy in my queue by like 5 or 10 seconds, it might let the next upload haul *** like the first one did! Normally I let 3-5 people pull at the same time as it doesn't affect the individual speeds as it is now, but that first one can get to about 90-95% with full bandwidth and that would mean that I could run 'em one at a time and they'd snag stuff at crazy speeds.

Whaddya think?
