Good news for those attacked by the economic terrorist goups (RIAA/MPAA).
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20071119-expert-witness-fund-hopes-to-balance-the-scales-of-justice-in-p2p-lawsuits.htmlFile-sharing lawsuits generally have a David versus Goliath feel to them. On one side is a cabal of multibillion-dollar music behemoths. The other side is a cross-section of Americana—single mothers, grandparents, middle-class suburban families—all of which lack the vast array of resources the RIAA has at hand. A new Expert Witness Defense Fund established today by the Free Software Foundation and the Recording Industry vs The People blog (run by copyright attorney Ray Beckerman) looks to even out the scales of justice.
The fund will be used to help defendants cover the costs of expert witnesses used to defend themselves against file-sharing lawsuits brought by the recording industry.
Is that a cry of fear I hear coming from the Cartel Camp ?
Its likely that with this kind of technical forensics support to hand anyone accused by the thuggish extortionist media Cartels will be able to prove reasonably that there is no case to answer, something before that many could not afford to undertake themselves without breaking the bank.
Lets see how the Cartel likes it when they have lawyers threatening to clean them out by countersuing under the RICO statutes, something likely to happen if they lose a few more attempted-extortion cases.
