I,m sure most folks have this versatile video player to hand on their systems  :)

A flaw in the widely-used open-source VLC media player could allow an attacker to execute harmful code on a PC.
The problem stems from a buffer overflow that can occur when the player processes subtitle files used for movies, according to a security advisory

The vulnerability existed before VLC was upgraded to version 0.8.6e in late February, but the bug appears to have escaped the last round of patches, wrote Luigi Auriemma in a note.

I first downloaded VLC almost 2 years ago. I was tired of constantly having to find and install new codecs for each and every video that I found on the web. (I am something of a fun image and video collector). It's a great program.

I also recommend Media Player Classic for similar reasons and it's lack of bulk (a single 4MB file).
Downloading is an addiction I do not want to give up.
