In the first 24 hours the web browser was available the software was downloaded more than eight million times, says its creator Mozilla.
Statistics from the download servers are being scrutinised to produce an official figure that will be passed to the Guinness World Record organisation.

But the launch was marred by news from computer security firms who have found the first flaws in the software.
DV Labs/Tipping Point reported a flaw only five hours after Firefox 3.0 debuted. The flaw potentially lets an attacker take over a PC if a user clicks on a booby-trapped link

Let hope the beast is updated soon to fix the bugs, solutions for such bugs are the yardstick by which we can measure the softwares quality it seems, it's like asking a boxer how many fights he has won.

the current '3.0' version is still in the 'release candidate' stage... --many-- bugs are likely to be found... and just as quickly squashed...

if you are worried stick with version 2 till a few security update releases of FF3 come to the surface...

[EDIT]

the RC2 (windows/linux) and RC3 (mac) versions are considered final... only thing left is the bug smooshing...

tho i can honestly say ive been using FF3 since beta 2 and havent had any troubles with it (AVG is keeping an eye out but nothing has happened)
