It looks like with a recent law change the pirate bay folks are getting serious about protecting privacy online.
http://www.slyck.com/story1691_SSL_Encrpytion_Coming_to_The_Pirate_BayIn response to Sweden's new wiretapping law, The Pirate Bay's Peter Sunde has announced the tracker’s intention to offer encryption services to its users
According to Sunde, The Pirate Bay will roll out an encryption option this week.
"Many people have asked me what we’re planning to do," Peter writes in his blog "- and the answer is “A lot!”. We’re going to help out in any way we can with fighting the law. This week we’re going to add SSL to The Pirate Bay. We’re also going to help out making a website about easy encryption - both for your hard drives and your net traffic.
I can see a nice market opportunity is just opening for the bay guys server hosting side, being so vocal has its rewards I expect and heavy encryption and increased security are going to be something the swedish government will regret forcing on joe public, and the sorry thing in all this is that many other governments are attempting to bring in the same democracy-undermining laws to spy on their own citizens, will they never learn that freedom is something people have died for and will be defended heavily.
