A consumer advocacy council based in Norway has indicated it is interested in creating a method to enable consumers to challenge false claims made by the recording and movie industry cartel organisations against members of the public.

Strangely enough, these infringement notices are hardly ever backed up by solid evidence. The Norwegian Consumer Council is now proposing to create an independent committee to deal with copyright infringement disputes between alleged pirates and rights holders.
NCC is also opposed to any “3 strikes” type legislation, calling it a “grossly disproportionate” response, with Hans Marius Graasvold stating that consumers facing such allegations are deprived of due process and their right to privacy. Internet access should be provided by an ISP on “neutral terms” with “legal protection against arbitrary termination of the contract.”

Bullying especially when its of the legal kind is despicable and those who use such campaigns to intimidate consumers trying to exercise their own legal rights to download material for their personal use are it seems the same groups calling for longer and longer copyright terms that seek to deny the public their rights to use material that has already fallen into the public domain, are members of the public the only ones that have to stick to such legal deals created in our grand-parents days ?
Oppose the oppressors vocally folks, they may be able to buy political clout but thankfully not all of those charged with public duties are up for sale.
