Professor Michael Geist Offers Copyright Discussion Video

Fed up watching all those repeat episodes of TV series being shown due to a worn out licencing agreement the TV company made with the producers, perhaps you have time to learn a bit about the history of copyright and how its duration creep earns big business plenty of revenue that they should not be entitled to.

Quote
50 years ago, did anyone but big rightsholders and lawmakers care about copyright? It certainly wasn't the tremendous public issue it has become today, and a new short film from Canadian law professor Michael Geist takes a look at why copyright matters to people and what they think copyright should cover.

Geist's film has a particularly Canadian flavor, but most of the arguments made are applicable in the US and around the world. In it, a collection of artists, thinkers, musicians, and lawyers—even the Privacy Commissioner of Canada—weigh in on copyright, anticircumvention law, and the public domain.

Enjoy folks  :)

i think its time for some forward thinking americans to move to canada... eh?

cos it seems the typical american is just an iTool.... and its not changing...

{edit}
PS
it took me from the time of your inital post to just now finish the .flv download linked from the authors page... america needs to work on its 'broadband problem' (or rather the lack thereof) as well.... 1996 to 2008... 12years... and not even a glimmer of anything faster than 56k out here... ...the biggest (and last) upgrade was a switch from pulse dial to tone... but now im going off into different topic territory...
