Error Negotiating(217"15-INVALID REQUEST")
« on: August 04, 2009, 11:36:34 pm »
using winMX 2.6, just recently did a format and reinstalled a fresh copy. (the only thing that wasn't manually put in was all the server addies)  now many of the people that could be downloaded from before can't be connected with. just keep getting the 217 error message above. sometimes it comes up with 26 instead of 15. all the file paths etc are set up the same way as before the format, but it won't connect to my favorite download partners now. any ideas?

I'm sorry but there is no winmx 2.6.
Can you please specify what you did a format and reinstall of? (ie xp vista 7 linux)

Are you reffering to OpenNap servers?

Im led to believe that the negotiation error would be in your connection or someone using leech hammer or something to prevent the download/upload. This of course could be wrong but it is where im going to start the trouble shooting process unless someone comes along with a better idea.

Wow such an old version. I suggest upgrading to WinMX 3.53 or 3.54b4 then see if you still have problems.

Which network did you add the server addresses from (choice of three)
In any case WinMx 2.6 tries to connect to the old site of winmx.com.
The WinMxWorld community patch does not work for WinMx2.6 and if a changed hosts will help you?

I dont know where to start here

There is indeed a WinMX 2.6 (check the Archive Forested) and whilst its old it was designed for and is very popular with Opennap users, it does not feature the WPN system as we know it so I suspect SpiritWolf is not likely to be wanting the Community Patch.

This is an informative list of problems and solutions that apply to this older WinMX version SpiritWolf

Can I suggest section 16.1 as a starting point for resolving this error, I,m sorry we cant be more informative on the problems with this particular version but this forum was set up in 2005 and this client is from around 2001/2002 and thus we have no content history or posts to fall back on, however we will do our best to help you get reconnected

[Update]  ERROR NEGOTIATING(217"15-INVALID REQUEST")  Is this your exact error message, if so it may be that the file your trying to download is not at the location specified, another scenario is ISP blocking although that is pretty rare for OpenNap users in my experience.
