« on: November 11, 2005, 12:42:05 am »
History......

Runnug win2000 pro.
Unistalled winmx 3.53.
Reinstalled original host file.
Flushed Dns.
Rebooted.
Flushed Dns & deleted Wnmx directory & shortcuts.
Cleaned registery of wnmx/frontcode entries.
Rebooted.
Installed 1.9 upgeade w/ 3.54.

Promblem.....
Making a primary connection OK.
Up Loads start at once. Good Speed.
Info box states patch Operational.
Can not search for anything....just says "Wainting for results"
Will connect & d/l to existing incomplete file.

Making a secondary connection works better...all above teh same except
when searching I get way few results...IE  "Beatles" - 65 files!

Any Ideas?

This smells like a UDP port issue..

Inabilty to get a chatroom list would tend to confirm this too, worth trying to get one, even if you never chat, just as a test.

Is your firewallconfigured to allow ?

If you're behind a Router (& some cable/dsl modems) is this set to forward TCP & UDP ports for WinMX?

The quick way to test if it's your firewall is to try with it breifly disabled, if it works then, you know where the problem is.

Sometimes specifying non standard ports fixes this too, adding either a 1 or 2 in front of the standard port numbers (making them 5 digit) is the favourite dodge, although this cure tends to apply only in specific cases with specific Internet providers.. & if you try remember to modify any port forwarding or specific firewall rules to match the new configuration.  You will need to restart WinMX for these changes to take effect.

Hope this is some help
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed.

Thanks for the Ideas.
Firewall is disabled & the udp ports & tcp ports were redirected & forwarded also.

No change.

Well in some areas they are doing some filtering of WinMX, It may well be worth trying to change to different ports and see if that helps you at all

some good ones are usually high numbers like 58202 and 61202 for example.  Those can be either TCP or UDP and make sure to not only change them in the WinMX but any firewalls or routers also..

Let me know if this helps ya any..
