Here's my problem...I connect with no problem but get "still searching" with no results.  Any suggestions or does anyone know why this would suddenly happen?  Thanks.

hi bigred,

i think you allready know alot of reasons because you ve had this problem before right??

first things that come to mind is .. your internal ip was not set to be static inn hte past and it has changed, wich means the ports in your router are opened to the wrong ip now

.. your windows firewall was switched off and some reason was switched back on without you knowing

.. you have installed something protective wich is now blocking winmx

i would go for the first in the list ;-), please read back for the how to's in your older thread about this

if all this is not the cause please try and give as much info as you can, like how you re connected, whats your operating system, what protection software do you use, anything new installed lately? , do you get a roomlist etc etc

Hi,
Dont know if this helps but,
the Windows Firewall thing, if you do a Windows Update, it DOES and WILL turn your Windows Firewall back on and you may not even know,
its worth checking that...

Joshua..I did go back to the old thread where you guys helped me.  The problem now is that I have a different router and the portforward.com site is set up so that you buy products from them.  When I click on my router model it doesn't just walk you through the steps anymore.  Obviously, this issue is with the new router.  Suggestions?  Thanks.

Now that I've had the time to try this again....I'm at the point where you type in 192.168.1.1 to begin forwarding the ports, but it won't accept the default username and password.  My Lynksys WRT54G2 v1.5 calls for admin as the username and password.  Now what?  Thanks.

Try leaving the username blank and just enter the password admin

http://www.simpleportforwarding.com

A program which supports WinMx and makes opening ports in router simple
Supports 1,137 Routers, with default usernames and passwords built in
Can even set your pc to a static IP, and add windows firewall exceptions

Oh, is free too :)

I tried all different ways to change up the admin/password combo and no luck.  I'll try that other site to see how that goes.  Thanks.

Here's the problem now....I type in 192.168.1.1 in the web addy and it prompts me for a username and password....then it keeps coming back with that prompt telling me to type it in.  This when using admin for the password only.  That is what simpleportforwarding.com suggested.  What am I doing wrong?

If that is happening then the username and password is incorrect. The only way to reset the username and password is to reset the entire device.

Try these username pass combinations (if you feel you have not)
Username: admin
password: admin

Username: root
password: admin

Otherwise
Hold the Reset button  for about 30 seconds.
will reset the router to factory default
