Hustler, or LFP, LLC, has filed a new round of lawsuits against alleged file-sharers. Once again, the allegations surround the supposed sharing of the adult movie "This Aint Avatar XXX", which LFP describes as one of the most expensive publications in Hustler's history. Perhaps that's why 2,619 new BitTorrent lawsuits were filed in District Court in Dallas, Texas. The latest round of lawsuits has the law firm of Evan Stone (www.wolfe-stone.com) rapidly approaching the same realm of magnitude, in terms of P2P litigation, as the US Copyright Group. As of this writing, Stone's firm has filed nearly 4,600 lawsuits against BitTorrent users accused of sharing "This Aint Avatar XXX", not including nearly 1,500 other suspected file-sharers currently facing litigation. In response to the litigation, members of Anonymous and other supports of Operation: Payback have hit back, launching a DDoS attack that knocked Hustler.com offline in under 3 minutes. The site returned within several hours, however the intended message was sent. This lawsuit was filed on the same day as the DDoS attack - we'll see if the attack will deter other lawsuits, or if the cat and mouse game will continue.
