WinMX Beta HELP
« on: October 15, 2005, 09:38:03 pm »
Thank you for resurrecting WinMX!  You are my heroes!  Sadly, I have a problem . . .

I installed the beta just last night and it works GREAT -- even better than before. The problem I am having is that, after exiting the program, then starting it up again later, it AUTOMATICALLY uninstalls itself.  Even the WinMX folder is removed from my C:\ drive! I reinstall, it works great, I disconnect and it uninstalls again when I try to reconnect.

I am at a loss as to how to remedy this. Is it in my settings? Your help will be most appreciated!

Make sure you desk top icon that your starting the program from is for the correct folder path.

You can check it by 'right clicking' the icon and choose 'properties'
Make sure this path is set the same as where your WinMX beta is installed to.

Let me know what you find out..

If its not set properly and all its finding is a WinMX.exe file some where with no settings.dat file in the folder it assumes you need to install it again.

If its not set to the correct path on the Icon you can delete it and do this.
Go to the correct folder that includes both your WinMX.exe and a settings.dat file and right click the WinMX.exe file and choose 'Send' .. 'Create a Desktop Icon..

Thank you! That WAS the problem . . . I deleted the shortcut, accessed the WinMX folder, right clicked the WinMX icon and pinned it to the Start Menu. It worked like a charm. Thanks again!
