Downloading from YouTube and Converting to Mp3 a Copyright Issue ?

It’s been some couple of years now since YouTube and Google took the internet market business to a whole new level. We can say, without any restraints, that it’s their era. Although YouTube does not allow downloading from their website, there are plenty of “tools” out there to help you get the stuff you need. However, this raises the following question: is this legal ? Well, basically it’s like recording a song from your favorite radio using, for example, Pandora – which is considered to be legal under the Audio Home Recording Act.

We may find the answer to that question thanks to the former client MP3Rocket, which changed its strategy by offering a new application which helps you record YouTube videos and then turn them into mp3s. This is due to the Supreme Court’s Betamax ruling. They claim that there’s no difference between streaming music from YouTube and recording TV shows on a video cassette.

On the other hand, RIAA and the like supporters will ask for a full disclosure about the legality of this program. It smells like a hell of a lawsuit.

This is only another proof that law cannot keep up with technology. It’s going to be interesting to see how they’ll turn this around – recording from your radio is legal, but from your computer isn’t ?

We’re anxious to see what the Supreme Court will rule this time.

I have no doubt we are going to hear a lot more about this.

No matter what youtube or anyone else does, one can capture video via your handy dandy Canon. Audio by a simple cable from the soundcard. The **AA needs a hobby. If they Really wanted to 'protect' 'their' content, they would instantly encrypt every movie and song as its recorded then bury the data somewhere deep underground in an old salt mine. Never to be seen or heard by anyone for any price. Its time for All the artists to say gues what? 'YOUR FIRED' to the **AA or other parties who think in a similar way and stuff the proceeds from any sales, concerts or radio playtime into their own pockets. The **AA is more than free to relocate to Red China. Im certain they can make trillions by trying to control music that sounds like a cat breeding with a porcupine in a communist dictatorship. Time for them to simply go away.
