In the same week that Microsoft lined up a bullet and aimed it at IE6, Ryan Gavin, senior director for Internet Explorer 9, said that the firm will continue its tradition of bringing the browser to the SXSW ball, and on the 14 March, at a party no less, will launch the final release."Exactly twelve months from the first Platform Preview of IE9, on Monday March 14th we will celebrate the developers and designers who are making a more beautiful web for all of us," he wrote."In Austin we will be joined by some of the most exciting websites and web heroes out there, including Ze Frank. We also have a heck of party planned celebrating the amazing developers and designers who are creating a more beautiful web. We'll feature live music from Yeasayer, the Head and the Heart, and Fences at Austin City Limits Live the night of the 14th. It's a party you won't want to miss."The INQUIRER has to wash its hair that night, but those people that do attend might find a few surprises, Gavin added, and we suspect either some sort of buffet or canapes will also be on the menu.IE9 has already been downloaded 36 million times, said Microsoft earlier this month, and the final version - at least until the first patches appear - is only likely to increase its use further.However, how much impact it will have on Microsoft's overall web browser market share remains to be seen as its browser software is gradually falling out of favour among users.
