Chat Servers

Hi All

It seems as though some of the chat servers are having issues. I know about WCS. Does any others have an issue?

Apparently there are reports of it also affecting RSWCS to some extent too. However,
I believe that all servers are affected by this problem, however due to the open nature of the information of connected primaries in WCS and RSWCS it highlights this issue more.  If the network is being flooded by fake primaries then it will not affect a particular server type. But if servers are connecting and disconnecting from bad primaries over and over in the background, and not displaying any errors then people will assume its actually not affected.

edit: also note, this will affect all primary and secondary clients and caches too, (it never does affect a single point) but im happy to explain this if it helps anyone.

Having confirmed with Taffy that he is using an older version (1.9.0) which had long packets fixed in version 1.9.5.3
If people are having problems on RSWCS please feel free to upgrade to the newest one.  New versions are released for a reason

I host a room for a friend, but ZCS is also affected, i noticed less than 300 rooms are showing in my channel list.

I think we all are. Miost WCS and other modified versions of wcs are not showing in the list, along with a good number of FXS rooms.
ZCS does at least appear in the list but is also affected somewhat.

@Max ZCS is a chatderver, that isright, but it has little to do with the number of channels your chatclient is showing

For possible problems with the ZCS server, requiered address not valid or something likewise you may try to set the keep alive value in zcs config.ini to a higher value as in most cases it appears to be the modem that cannot handle all requets.
error 10053 are socket errors in general and the /xxx next to it are possible reason.

Another reason could be your maxnumber of open connections in your windows registry.


If this is all due to roomlist flooding ? possible, though I have seen it happen in quiet times too.

thanks Wonderer, will look into the config,
i tweeked up the registry a while ago to handle more open connections.
