connection aborting/ping results???

hello people,ive been having a few problems with downloads,they conect to remote user but then go red saying connection aborted!.ive been told to ping all results & have done,doesnt really help,(dont no what they are or mean!!).can anyone help?? thanks :

Pinging reslults wont really help your downloads get started, Ping is a way for your machine to send another machine a bit of data and test how fast that data comes back to your machine.

This can give an indication of the speeds of a connection.  In  some cases such as the 'fake files' the ping times are quite fast but it doesnt mean your downloads will connect to them.

There are a few reasons you might get that message when they turn red,
One is you could be finding the Fake files in your searches.  These wont download and you may get a similar message on some.  Be sure to have a read here on avoiding those:

Other reasons could be a firewall or router that is keeping you from getting files to start, or even if your not sharing files yourself many users have programs that keep folks that are not sharing files out of thier que or upload slots.  

Let me know if you have not configured your firewalls, or rouer/dsl modem for WinMX .. and try the link above for advice on finding real files..then get back to me and we can further help you on this..

tried to frade with some users & connection aborts,have configured winmx to firewall. any help would be wicked

Could you tell me a bit more about your set up.

What Operating system do you use?
Do you have a router also or dsl modem?
Are you trying primary or secondary connection to WinMX?
