Firewall and Virus software do not offer protection against spyware, hence the importance of a software designed to scan and remove spyware.
this is wrong... many AV suites including the free 'windows live' stuff handle spyware... granted the quality of that handling depends on the product...
the paranoid.. and the average joe for that matter... is better off with an install of 'spybot search and destroy' if they think (or know) their AV product doesnt cover spyware....
...a drop by secunia.com to run the 'online scan' to check if everything is up to date isnt a bad idea either...
