With the actual causes of many wars open to interpretation and argument its perhaps best to look at other aspects of this particular campaign, the privations and heroism of the troops many of whom had never been overseas before let alone been trained fully taking part on both sides who risked life and limb to fulfil their obligations as respective citizens, despite the tragic loss of life seen in Gallipoli mainly in part due to outdated fighting tactics of the leaders the seeds where sown for democracy in Turkey and a more responsible nation has arisen as a result, that it took vast loss of human life on many frontlines to achieve a time of peace is something that we should all be both wary of and proud of for should we ever forget such lessons in the failure of diplomacy, history may be repeated and others may have to pay the ultimate price once again.
May all who fought rest peacefully in the knowledge that the cost their sacrifice has been counted and remains too high.
