Airport Temporarily Shuts Down Due to Windows 3.1 Failure

Earlier this month, Paris's Orly Airport shut down temporarily, unable
to operate in foggy weather after a system running the Windows 3.1
operating system failed. The system, known as DECOR, provides pilots
with Runway Visual Range (RVR) data; when visibility is poor, the
information communicated by DECOR is essential. The secretary general
of France's UNSA-IESSA air traffic controller union noted that they
there are "only three specialists who can deal with DECOR-related
issues."

win 3.1 isnt an operating system (at least a complete one) but thats for another argument.....

and frankly... this scares the crap out of me... partly because its 3.1 but 3.1 doesnt often get networked .. that was for 3.11 ... but mostly that noone* knows how to fix these things... btw, anyone seen die hard 2 in a while?...

*three ppl vs many airports counts as 'noone' when shit really hits fan....

not to scary if you know orly is one of the oldest airports in france and french attitude is why fix it or update it when it works 
it scary when it is running on a 10 Mb harddisk which are no longer available

actually you would be surprised how long many harddrives do last...  but thats not so much a problem with flash harddrive replacements for older machines readily available...

edit its that the ppl who worked on these machines are retiring and windows 3.1 is a far cry from even windows NT 3

3.1 was it three or five 1.44 diskettes should look on the attic where they are, lol

3.1 was 7 1.44mb floppies.... thats not counting the 3 disks for dos 6.22 since 3.1 needs dos to work

I had windows 95 on 11 floppies back in the day,  windows 3.11 for workgroups was really when i got onboard the computing train, thats a long old time ago now

Whilst it may be annoying to you having to wait while our 2 part time coders and support staff do all the work,  tell me how many coders did billy have on the job ?

That's right a whole lot more equating to many more man-hours than we have used thus far, I suspect he pays well, we pay nothing and ask nothing, we work strictly for Mx users as Mx users, its a shame your so selfish not to have comprehended that the last 5 times I have had to reply to you.

I have to gloat a tad mind you: I do enjoy having a newer version of ourmx to play with every night and also having the ability to tweak and try new code and research bugs and review code implementation improvements over what we have, that is pretty satisfying, theres still work to be done for sure but it will be delivered and as before you will have little to say, some things are more than predictable.

we can join and criticize your progress and demand that you work faster. The fact that you even come here to bitch whine and moan to people who do this in their spare
