While Intel steered clear of mentioning the new DRM technology at its Australian launch of the new products, Intel's Australian technical manager Graham Tucker publicly confirmed Microsoft-flavored DRM technology will be a feature of Pentium D and 945.
The 945g chipset supports DRM, it helps implement Microsoft's DRM ... but it supports DRM looking forward," Tucker said, adding the DRM technology would not be able to be applied retrospectively to media or files that did not interoperate with the new technology.

I urge anyone contemplating purchasing a Intel Pentium D, with the afflicted motherboard to look elsewhere.
This product will provide a market lock-in to Intel or Microsoft products, thats the real reason for DRM.
The added fact that Intel refuse to say how the system will operate also means that they will not be able to call upon the third part support that has traditionaly kept them in high esteem in the marketplace.

Lets show them we are not the sheep they seem to think we are . :roll:

Seems Intel thinks we are all stupid, after publicly denying any DRM facilities in the chipset they now line up to make a sales pitch out of them.

A group of companies, including Intel, Sony, Toshiba, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (Panasonic), and Hitachi, developed DTCP over IP (Digital Transmission Content Protection over Internet Protocol) several years ago as a way of mollifying consumer concerns about the use of premium content downloaded from the Internet. The last two generations of Intel's chipsets, the 915 and 945 chip sets, support DTCP, a protocol that identifies copy policies set by the content provider and decides whether that data can be transferred over a network to other devices in accordance with those policies.

It seems the consumer is no longer is entitled to say whether his future computing experience is DRM free or not , these vested interest companies simple plan is to make artificial monopolies of goods and services, and whine when they are exposed for acting like this.
DRM is good for content holders as it increases their rights over your paid for products, but whats in all of this for the humble consumer ?

Play fair or pay dearly, we demand our traditional fair use rights, just the same as you demand cash for your products.
