What the current status of WinMX is.

Dear all,

    I am Wimmp. This is the first time for me to visit this site. I saw a lot of work had been made and I love to see that,
but I got question on the networking about WinMX. Please , if anyone give me a handy helping hand.

    I was using WinMX before its shut down, and then untill now I still got lost with the network.
Can anyone tell me the followings :

(1) Are the network re-constructed since the last shut down ? 
(2) How is the current connection work ?
(3) Any significant changes between the the new and old connection method ?
(3) What should be done on my WinMX to get another connection ?

(1) in a way yes winmx is redirected to a diffrent cache server now
(2)winmxworld.com u installed winmx then install the patch which u can get both at this site      www.winmxgroup.com/
(3) well yeah u gota use the patch of course but in general its about the same km and other peeps done alot of work to get this far and winmx is working great great great
(4) just install winmx and the patch and use the orignal ports if u like or what ever port u like tcp 6699 udp 6257 normal winmx ports i guess lol

Technically the network itself never shut down.  The cache servers used to get you hooked into the network did, but thanks to many users keeping their puter up and running it gave us time to create new caches and allow new joins.  Remember WinMx is a decentralized Network, meaning once you get on the network there are no central servers to be on.

As Zeppo said the patch simply redirects your WinMx.exe file to the new peer caches to allow you to connect.
The biggest difference is the ability with the WinMX Group patch to block the RIAA fake file flooders by ip.  We maintain a list of them on the network and that patch keeps them off your connection.

Again as Zeppo says.. just grab a patched version or a patch alone and restart.. easy..

    Thank you both Zeppo and Me Here, and now is the time for me to share all I have with all of you.

    And I knew that there are a lot of instructions that teach me how to re-connet the WinMX to network,
but can I just know what is the most important things to re-connect or procedure of it , and then I can
learn other things while connected to the network.

    If possbile, just direct me to any pages.

Has the number of winmx users significantly increased since the caches closed?

it's hard to be sure as figures are only estimates, however the userbase does appear to be increasing
