Problem with u/l and d/l speed. All advice gratefully accepted.

Hi there winmxers.  I have been using wimnx for a few years.  I currently run 3.54 beta with PG2  which was all installed with the patch as recommended.  I have a 1Meg internet connection so usually run a secondary connection.

My problem is this.  The majority of users I u/l or d/l with only get really really crap speeds.  The transfer will begin at around 1kbps then drop to 0.1-0.2 before eventually disconnecting.  Some users I have no problems at all with and things run at what I would consider to be a normal good speed.  I dont understand why some transfers run fine but many seem to have problems.  I would expect a problem with my settings or equipment to affect all transfers

 If they were all rubbish I could more easily pin down the problem.  I do have crap USB modem which I am planning to replace but again, if that was the trouble then why do some transfers go smoothly?

This never used to be a problem and has only recently got worse.  Just wondering if anyone else experiences this or can offer some advice.  Many thanks for taking the time to read/reply to this.  If you think you can help but need more info please ask me.   :shock:

The transfer behaviour you describe is typical of users with ISPs who throttle file transfers (traffic shaping) if it was all transfers I would suspect your ISP, however, only being some, I suspect it's theirs & as such there isn't anything you can do to fix it.
