Oslo municipal court sentenced a 36-year-old man from Oppland County for running an illegal file sharing service on the Internet, the first conviction of its type in Norway.

On 11 February this year the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs submitted its long awaited White Paper (2005) on amendments to the Norwegian Copyright Act (1962). The purpose of the proposed amendments is to bring Norwegian copyright law into consistence with the European Copyright Directive (EUCD 2001). The approach chosen as to the implementation of EUCD Article 6 contains some rather innovative elements and goes far in protecting consumers' interests

This looks at first sight a fair balancing of rights, but only if you agree that DRM should be incorporated into products.
I feel that DRM leads to monopoly practices and as such against the spirit of free trade laws across EU boundaries, the French dont have DRM why should we have it ?

I saw a posted link to a Norweigan site that claimed the authorities where about to stage a big clamp down on filesharers, here it is.

http://www.vg.no/pub/vgart.hbs?artid=117208

The story actually mentions a DC++ hub (Stavanger dragon hub) that was seized and the lame attempts to track down the users IPs found on it.
A centralised file sharing network will always suffer from this type of problem.
The ISPs involved have made it clear they will only hand over details when presented with a court order to do so, If at all.
