Language sets for Windows XP
« on: June 06, 2006, 04:36:33 pm »
Could some generous, warm-hearted individual, please, please, please tell me how to download and install language sets so I don't get gibberish when I browse people?

Hi Lovepeaceguru, The gibberish is normally Japanese 2 digit language codes, we have a small guide here for making them look readable

https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/winmx_japanese_language.html

I hope this is of help, the procedure for other languages should be the same.

Had the same problem not much long ago..

Go to control panel>Regional Settings

Click the advanced tab and check all the check boxes(If you want all the languages to be viewed. Select the language for the non Unicode programs in the language you want (personally Japanese)

Then go to the language tab and select the two check boxes that are there.

1.> "Install east Asian language support"
2.> "Install support for right to left languages..." (Something of that sort)

Click apply. You will need your windows installation CD for that.. After it is done, restart and open winmx.

Go to Settings>Appearance

There are three option for fonts, large, dynamic and  normal.
I am telling the procedure for one, please do the same for the others.

Click on normal font. Select the font you want. You wa\ill see a down arrow below the selection box. Select the language you want there. If it isin't there, then the font doesn't support that language. Then select another font you want and see if that font supports your language. .Not all of them support all languages. So search until you get the one you want. My personal choice is arial. Supports many of them. Check it out.

Tell us what happened.
Cheers
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)
