I have a question for KM! Is there a stand-alone DLL file available instead of an EXE file? Installing or running an EXE file is the most dreadful thing for me especially when I don't know or haven't developed trust on it because many unknown EXE contains malware!

the reason for the installer is an additional check for a registry entry (which is not present on a clean system)

the nomx version simply does that quick check then puts the patch in the MX directory (and also does the shortcuts... so i copy/pasted and forgot to remove that part...)

the beta version of the patch (3.1) the no mx version is a simple zip file https://www.winmxgroup.com/Install-3.1.zip although it as a small opennap bug

(ok major opennap bug, but it's a small bug for non-opennap users...)

btw a exe file and a dll file are both executable code

I can't really answer that, but I got it and I used it and now my WinMX works. Since then I have got the beta, see here

https://www.winmxgroup.com/Install-3.1.zip - just the dll file (the same as the No MX one from previous versions, but i decided without the installer)

At this stage my PC still works, my bank account details have not been posted across the net, my house is still standing, my wife is still with me (good or bad I'm not sure yet), my kids love me (when they want things) and my WinMX connects, and allows me to find chat rooms, and allows downloads and uploads.

Maybe i got some malware on my PC, but I don't really fooking care. My WinMX works, and probably better than it did before Frontcode left. Room lists load faster, connects quicker.

Just grab it and use it.

I'm still working on that one... but keep an eye out for 3.2 which may well address that issue
