Can't connect any more

winMX was working 10 days ago, now can't connect
downloaded a patch some time ago, worked perfectly till just recently

that cache changed IP Address, a hosts file fix was only a temporary fix designed for the first couple of days after winmx was shut down. you should have upgraded to the winmxgroup patch long ago

https://www.winmxgroup.com/  as well as the advantage of not needing to keep changing it for cache changes, it also blocks the flooders, and gets rid of the fake search results

just get the patch installer & run it (with winmx closed), the patch makes the needed adjustments to your hosts file

I'm having trouble connecting to WINMX for the past 24 hours. I've tried reinstalling my WINMX v3.53 along with varies patches but nothing seems to work. I'm using windows XP and have been using WINMX almost every day for the past 3 or 4 months without problem till now. Has anyone got any ideas of what i can do to reconnect???

are you using the winmxgroup patch? the hosts file being given out by other sites stopped connecting yesterday (it was never meant to work for more than a few days, so it did well to last that long)

I've tried the link and keep gettin an error. if I retry, it doesn't do anything.  if I ignore, it finishes but still can't connect.

jrtangles are you trying to run the file from that location? if so you can't do it with winmx running, best bet is to save the file to your desktop, close winmx completely (make sure it's not still down by the clock) & then run it.

i can not get reconnected to winmx 3.53 .....i have been using winmx for the last past months,  until  today....i  reinstalled it with the new patch,  but the  yellow light keeps flashing...should i create a shortcut on my desktop?  i am using xp

Shortcuts will not interfere. did you enable winmx in the windows firewall? Do you have any routers?

uninstall winmx, get rid of it, then reinstall again, that fixes many issues people have with reinstalls not working...

If you have a WinMX folder anywhere on the PC delete it.

Then download a working version with patch from here

Then run this file, by double clicking it.
Once its installed if you have any other problems with it open WinMX, click on the Chat button, then copy and paste this into the black Filter bar

Then click the Join button to the far right.. remember even if the WinMX you have wont connect you can still enter this chat for help.
