Author Topic: Lots of music to share but it isnt in my WinMX list (Read 1312 times)

Alright the problem is I have several songs on my computer that isn't showing up in my WinMX library.I have moved all of them into the "Shared" folder same place new songs being dled are going but they still are not showing up.I have done the "Scan For Media" but none of the other songs show up. :(Can someone help me please??

What format are they? By default WinMX won't share .wma files (made with media player) for the good reason it embeds traceable personal information in them, though they *can* be added as a shared file type from the shared files window, there's a "shared types" button used to add custom file types.

Welcome to the site..
More then likely the files your trying to share are ripped with Windows Medai Player.. and if so they have an extension of .wma

WinMX can be forced to share these file but doesnt by default for a good reason, at one time and as far as I know still does, Windows Media player inbeds information about the users PC in which the files where ripped from. Now not your avg person will notice this, but like I always say...
If I can find it so can the experts .. so for that reason we recommend that you either re rip your files with something such as C-Dex or other ripping software

Or you can still share those files by forcing WinMX to share that file type .wma

For version 3.53 go to your Shared Files page, click on File Types and add this type in the same format as they have the others .wma
For Version 3.54 go to your Settings > Library and add the new file type there.

You better unshare all the files you have and share them again. Never use the scan for media button. That shares a lot of trash files and can cause you to get kicked for rooms and queues.
It can share personal media files to. Better share only those files that you need to.

:wink:Thanks for all the help y'all (yep im southern) *giggles* but really Thank you alot..I'm gonna try the suggestions and hopefully it will throw my songs on my WinMX list .So I'm off to dl the cd ripping program that Here Me said. I will be back and let y'all know if alls well ...
