Looks like the brakes are about to be slammed on for the release date.

Symantec sued Microsoft Thursday, charging it with misappropriating its intellectual property and breaching its contract and patent infringement, among other trespasses.
The security software giant claims Microsoft employs volume management technology in its forthcoming Windows Vista operating system, Windows Server 2003 and other Windows products that improperly uses Veritas' code and intellectual property.

I see big trouble coming down the line if this is not settled fast, its been a long while since MS was sued for this sort of thing.

I have seen Microsoft Vista and it looks very simular to Windows XP. The only thing that caught my eye was the transparency that they have added and more that likely the have stole that from Linux. Yeah yeah they have worked on the inside ie the code and they have made it more stable than windows XP, But did they not say that about Windows XP when that first came out.

Make up your own mind personally Linux is my favourite and as soon as i find a winmx client that works with linux and no need for wine and easy to configure Linux is what i will use.

looks like people do not like Windows Vista Allready. I personally think that they are being greedy when they are releasing several versions
