I see that it is non-mxsock dependant and the update system is removed , those are the changes that took my eye.
I think i,ll have a peek into this to see whats used instead as this sounds interesting.

I need some help from all those Sharegaurd masters out there

I can't get my Sharegaurd to enter my room!  It says something about it being invalid.  Any ideas?

I'm running WCS on a XP system.  Thanks for all your time   :D

Have you been running windows update at all ?
If not this may be the problem.

On a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2), programs that connect to IP addresses that are in the loopback address range may not work as you expect. For example, you may receive an error message that says that you cannot establish a connection.
This problem occurs if the program connects to a loopback address other than 127.0.0.1. Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) prevents connections to all IP addresses that are in the loopback address range except for 127.0.0.1.

Also the advice from MxControl is to use a loopback address like this

ie: Roomname_0100007Fxxxx

Remember that the last four characters (xxxx) of your loopback address are the port address your using.

Oh one last thing I spotted there is not to use port 3 but something like 1024 as shareguard may not like that particular port .

Hope some of that helps  :)

OK Me Here....

I tried what you told me to......

I still can't enter my own room not some other ones, but there are some I can enter with for example: MOVIE   MAYHEM_9D259D51684B
But I don't think I got quite what you said....
as I have no clue on how to change the ports for the program ( I see no setting or anything like that anywhere )

PLEASE if you have any otherb ideas or can explain this to me better, do so.

You can find me in:    Music by Karet_A3A168460003
if you want to help me live ( which I think would b more helpful ) :D

I noticed a few people mentioning an issue with WCS and Shareguard.

Seems that shareguard likes telling people that rooms hosted on port 3 (the WCS default) are invalid room names, and as soon as you change it to another port (like 6698 or something) it will work fine... something that the sceptic side of me doubts is a bug

ahhhh....

Is that what Me Here was trying to explain to me?  I took it as she wanted me to change the port of Shareguard and was like ummm....how?  lol

but thanks KM, I will give that a shot and letcha know how that works :D

I can get it into a Movie   Mayhem's room (WCS) so thats what I was curious about and come to think about it, Klippa (the host) doesn't use port 3, so this looks promising :D

Thanks again!

Hi Mashed, the ports should be ok as long as they are above 1024 as it is coded into shareguard to refuse to join any rooms below this.

Are you running a modified Shareguard as it will still need a WPN connection ?

Can you try something for me please Mashed ?

What I need you to do it remove any Shareguard allow rules from the firewall and retry starting Shareguard paying close scrutiny to what the firewall message says when it asks you if Shareguard is allowed through.

I just want to know the addy its dailing out to, if at all  :?

There may be two times it pops up, once on the update link and once for the WPN connection and thats the one I,m interested in.

i only use windows xp firewall for familiarity reasons but there are no exceptions in it for shareguard at all so it does look as you say like it is not actually dialing out.

Could you try installing one of my own versions as when you posted I had not modified a 2.1.0  version but have now done so  :)

https://forum.winmxworld.com/index.php?topic=958.html

I have tested those in the winmxworld room so folks have seen it works ok  :D

Hope that solves the problem.
