Thats ok Stitch,
We can help you figure all this out..
A firewall is a way to monitor and guard access to your machine from hackers, trojans, and some viruses out in the world, there is usually a little icon in the corner of your task bar near your clock.
When you hover your mouse over them, you should see something about 'Personal firewall, or prtection'.
If you have nothing like that and your on Windows XP, it has a firewall built into it.
You can find out if its on by going to your Control Panel, if you have Service Pack 2 then look for an icon of a firewall, if it is on it will be obvious.
Yours might be under Network Connections if your on Service Pack 1. Click on that and when it opens, 'Right' click on the Local Area Connection and choose 'Properties' .. then choose the 'Advanced Tab' you will see a place to
Protect My computer from outside 'scary things'. If there is a tick in that box, its on.
Do this for me and get me a little information about the set up of your machine.
Are you using Windows XP ?
Whats the name of your DSL modem and model number would help?
Do you have a router, to allow more then one computer to have access to the internet in your house? If yes, can I have the name and model?
