Winmx getting blocked in S.A Dsl how do I get around it?

I have a dsl connection in South Africa and was looking forward to using good old trusty winmx,but it never connects up to the network.A friend tells me that telkom- our sole service provider has limited certain file protocols or bandwidths(I'm not too sure wot he said exactly) is this true and is there a way around this?

Not connecting to the network may be because of an unpatched or out-dated patch applied to winmx. The latest and best patch for the WinMx peer network is available here

If you're routered ensure your ports are correctly forwarded to allow winmx connectivity, and also that winmx is allowed for in any firewall including XP's own firewall.

An ISP affected winmx should still allow you to connect to the network - it's usually always your download and upload speed which trickle off to zero if you're restricted.
