WinMX just sits and tries to connect with nothing happening.  How do you get to tech support?  Anybody out there??  Thanks,

Well this is a good place, first i suggest removing what you have, & installing using the installer from www.winmxgroup.com  which will probably resolve the issue for you. if not please post again giving more details, operating system, firewall, make/model of modem/router, & anti virus program in use
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed.

Still no luck.  Regarding the router, I could only find one DNS server.  I couldn't find a "secondary" one to plug in.  Would that make a difference?? (Why is this so hard???)  Thanks again, although I discovered that you are an 'assistent supervisor'  so I guess you're supposed to be interested??

Hi pasquinel

Did you get the rest of the set up finished for your model?  The ports and the information to forward them for WinMX?

This sounds like a firewall issue to me, or maybe the nortons.. possibly..

Normally you would get a connection even if ports are not set properly, it would just be a secondary one and some uploads might not work either.. but the flashing yellow indicates a total block of Internet Access for WinMX by something..

My best advice is to remove WinMX from all firewall rules and then restart and readd it to them.. or if that doesnt work turn them off momentarily and see if you get a connection.  I am talking about software firewalls not Hardware ones like the router.  Just XP, Norton and see if WinMX can connect at least..

Also can you verify that in the WinMX Settings > Outgoing TCP you have that set to the Top Options 'Do Not Use Proxy, Connect Driectly' ?
thanks

Thanks for all the help!  I disabled Windows firewall and WinMX instantly connected.  I downloaded and shut it completely down and opened up and it connected itself again.  I have NO IDEA what happened there but that was the fix.  THANK YOU!!

Okay, at my last post I had success connecting when I disabled Windows firewall.  Haven't tried until yesterday and couldn't connect.  So I tried disabling again with no luck.  I'm quite disappointed.  Anything further??

Try reinstalling winmx... Do web pages open? or are they also not comng up when you try to run winmx... ? Windows firewall might have blocked it... ad winmx to the trusted application list and see if that helps .... Also add winmx in the norton firewall...

Cheers :P
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)
