Avast antivirus Standard shield threats WinMX.exe as a virus and kills it!

there are several other threads on this in the forum

avast released an update that wipes out several popular programs, including vnc, several mouse drivers (!!), a few games, etc etc... quite a lot of programs are being randomly deleted by avast for no reason

if you can find the option to tell avast to ignore winmx then this is the simplest solution, failing that either disable/remove avast, or stop using your computer until it updates with a fix (i don't suggest the last option)

if you select to update avast now then you can see if the latest update resolves the issue (they have released another update since the one that broke everything that fixes some stuff) failing that you can email avast reporting it

I use avast standard shields (+home) edition, and its even told me at 1 time that halo was a virus, and also winmx. but i noticed it only does it to winmx when i just leave it running and don't mess with it (idle).... why? I don't know. Just tell Avast to ignore it somehow, i'd have to get home to take a look at how i did it.

Also, another thing that i relized, is i "USED"<<<<<<<<<<< to be on mxpie, and i switched over to winmxgroup awhile back. and there was some mxpie thing left in the winmx folder... after i deleted it, avast calmed down. |:
