Yes folks after readinhg only a few days ago about the fake figures put out by the RIAA and Co it seems now their international arm is being exposed as another stats fiddler.

I'm several weeks late on this, but Canadian Heritage has released the 2005 Music Industry Profile.  The most noteworthy data point comes in the introduction - Canadian artists have seen their sales increase since 2001. Sales of Canadian albums have increased from 6.8 million units in 2001 to 8.5 million in 2004, an increase of 25.3%. In contrast, foreign artists have seen their sales fall 20.2% over the same period. The result is a remarkable increase in Canadian artists' share of sales in Canada from 16% in 2001 to 25% in 2004.  You read that correctly - despite CRIA's claims of woe, Canadian artists are enjoying unprecedented commercial success.

Heres more on the fiddled figures claimed by the rip-off Music Cartel

The US, representing 36% of the world sound recording market, showed an increase in dollar value of sales in 2004." This too was in sharp contrast to their earlier report which states: "For Canada’s music industry, the rise of file swapping has coincided with a 42 percent – or CAD$558 million – decrease in annual retail sales between 1999 and 2005" Why the conflicting data straight from the horses mouth is debateable. Either way, it seems to debunk the earlier report just like how CRIA's opinion citing the Pollara study was seemingly debunked when released in full. Has history repeated itself?

When will the theives and tax fiddlers who the Cartel members employ learn to count, it seems to me that the loss figures are pushed to offset the real size of the massive profits to the tax authorities, must be nice to have so many companies all set up to defraud the tax man by paper shuffling amongst themselves,, but all owned by the same 4 big organisations
